2021 Rio Camp: Day 10

Nov 3, 2021

No breakfast but probably should have had some. I'm hitting my bjj wall. 10 days straight of 2 a days plus hikes and adventures is leaving me pretty tired. I've actually done better than I have in the past. Endo knows that my eyes start glazing over at about the 2 hour mark at bjj seminars. This has been a marathon. We did a gi class in the morning. It was Rudson's last class of the trip. He taught armbar from when they try to break closed guard by putting their hands in your armpits. Alessandro and Leandro also taught. It was a lot of technique! We grabbed some acai and then went up to Christ the Redeemer again. The weather was better so our pictures turned out nicer. We also saw monkeys climbing around up there! We took our vans straight to the top and back down this time. Last time we took the train up and walked down which was tough on my knees. We stopped in Tijuca Rainforest where we climbed up to a beautiful waterfall. Lots of us jumped in and were showered by the falls. It was a tough climb up a hilly road but worth it. The falls were refreshing and energizing. We hurried down to make it back in time for training but hit traffic, so went to dinner instead. We went back to the sushi restaurant in the mall we went to last week. I tried the iced tea this time. It was great! Sweet tea with a citrus and cinnamon flavor. Loved it! The last plate of sushi was Caio's favorites. All salmon. Seared salmon with orange and sprinkled with sugar (my favorite). Seared salmon with truffle (I think). Salmon roll with mushrooms and salmon roll with a creamy filling. I ate a ton, I think it's the fullest I've been. Endo and Ender grabbed a quick ice cream from the mall, which had the inside of the cones coated with nutella. With full bellies we went back to the hotel and immediately got ready for no gi class. Caio taught upside down knee on belly to inverted triangle. With an alternative arm bar if they defend. We then trained until the hotel kicked us out for using the room past 10pm. I rolled with 2 black belts and managed not to puke. One of them was Caio where he again made me realize I know nothing about bjj. The other black belt was Jessica from Dallas, TX. She went very light with me, we both were feeling the sushi we filled up on. Ha!
