2021 Rio Camp: Day 11
Nov 4, 2021
I had a horrible night's sleep. I think it was all the tea I had at dinner. Too much caffeine for me. I slept 2 hours then was awake between 2-5am before I finally fell asleep again. I needed to do laundry so got up at 9am, walked my laundry around the corner. Endo went to class while I got a late breakfast. Ender got up late too, so he had breakfast with me before dropping his laundry off. For today's adventure we wore bathing suits, brought towels, sunscreen, and our gis. We drove to a dock where we got on a boat that took us out to an island. It was very rocky with nesting birds. We walked around the island and did cliff diving! It was my first time. I only did the 2 smallest jumps. Endo went up to the medium jump. 2 campers did the biggest jump. I'm not very experience jumping into water and landed ass first essentially doing an ass flop that left a big red mark. Oops! Getting out of the water was tricky and I cut my toe. Ender and I both had small rock shards embedded in our feet and lots of people had scratches from the sharp rocks. My flip flops broke which made the rest of the day a barefoot day. I bought my flip flops in Rio 3 years ago, so clearly I need to make it back to Rio in less than 3 years so my flip flops don't die before being replaced. We took the boat back to shore and while we waited for everyone to arrive we saw a capybara! It was just chilling near the water. We haven't seen one all trip! Still damp from swimming and barefoot we went back to CT Boucherie for steak. I had the fish again. Caio was very mad the steak was not as good as the week before and everyone agreed it wasn't great. Afterwards we headed back to the hotel for gi class. We were supposed to do it at Master Strauch's gym but dinner took too long so we missed our window. Endo went to class while I worked with my tweezers trying to pull the rock shards out of my toe. Leandro our security for this trip and the head of the Rio police walked me to a nearby pharmacy so I could get some antiseptic spray for my feet. I went to bed still having a few pieces of rock stuck in my feet but was too tired to deal with them. So zero training for me today. I'm so tired.
