2021 Rio Camp: Day 9

I grabbed a small breakfast and picked up my laundry at the front desk. It's sunny today! Our first day of sun all trip! We had no gi class in the morning where Caio taught how to pass butterfly half guard. We grabbed some acai then headed to Nitero again. This time we stopped at a beach it was quiet since it was still a bit cloudy. Many people from the camp climbed a rock wall. Ender would have loved it but wasn't feeling well so he stayed at the hotel to rest. Many of us needed to use the bathroom after the beach so we stopped by a gas station. I was excited to pick up Brazilian gas station snacks! Lots of candy and chocolate. I got kit kat and doritos too because I hear they taste different here. Sure enough they do and I like the Brazilian versions much better. We then stopped at the city park that overlooks Rio. It was a clearer day so the views were better than last week but we weren't there very long. We then went to Jessica Caroline and Alessandro's gym CTA Niteroi. We drilled a couple chokes from closed guard then it was on to training. The partnering system was a little different this time and much better. Campers that wanted to train sat on the wall until a Brazilian picked them to roll. It helped ensure campers weren't using mat space to roll with each other and everyone got the chance to roll with someone new. We then went back to one of the buffet restaurants we were at last week. I successfully ordered pineapple juice with mint completely in Portuguese!
