2021 Rio Camp: Day 7
Oct 31, 2021
It's transition day! We say goodbye to Oct camp people and hello to Nov camp people! The day started with Rudson Mateus teaching again. Today he taught closed guard lapel assisted armdrag back take lapel choke and a sweep to counter the knee in the butt guard break. Alessandro also taught using your lapel to do modified cross collar choke against a stalling opponent. It was a small class with a couple new campers already in attendance, but most people getting ready for their flights. Ender came to class looking tired. He was out at the clubs until 5am. It's his first time being of age in Rio. Ha! We then went to Bibi's for lunch. We hung out in the lobby after lunch chatting with new campers and saying our goodbyes to people leaving. There was a lot of people coming and going. Flights were delayed and canceled for incoming people that made things complicated. We were told one flight landed at the wrong Rio airport! We went to one of the outdoor markets for souvenirs but it was raining and about half the stalls were closed. Back to the hotel and then to Faenza for dinner again, where I almost exclusively ate garlic pizza. My favorite dish aside from acai this trip. We hung out at the hotel after dinner getting to know the new campers and greeting friends from previous camps. AJ and Mike from Utah have been at the 2 previous camps. Kin from California and Koji have both been at the previous 2 camps. Payton was from the 2018 camp, and Shawn the head instructor from CTA Hillsboro, OR joined is 2016. Looking forward to kicking off this week with a new set of campers! I didn't take any pictures today so here is a pic of a Brazilian raccoon I saw a few days ago.
