2021 Rio Camp: Day 13
Nov 6, 2021
Got up early to do our covid tests. Caio organized for the tests to be done at our hotel so it was very easy. Grabbed some breakfast then gi class. It was a Q&A with Caio. Afterwards I got ready for the beach and grabbed some acai and mac & cheese for lunch. We walked to Ipanema beach. Half of the group stayed there while the rest of us took taxis further down the beach. We played in the water and relaxed on the beach. Endo got caught in an extra large wave that spiked him face first into the ground and bent his back. He came up to the water with a bloody nose and in a lot of pain. Ender and Nate pulled him out and the life guards checked on him. A nurse was nearby and did some checks to make sure his nose wasn't broken. Luckily it wasn't. He rested on the beach for awhile. While resting we got news that 2 campers almost drown from the other group and had to be pulled out of the water by lifeguards. They got pulled out by the current. A tough day at the beach, but at least everyone is ok and waited until the end of the trip to get hurt. The group headed back to the original beach we were at to watch the sunset but I got a taxi to take Endo back to the hotel so he could rest. He showered and took a nap before dinner. I spent the time packing getting ready to start the trip home tomorrow. We went back to Mocellin Steak House for dinner. I had sushi and fried bananas. Everyone else ate lots of steak. We chatted with Payton and Spencer at dinner. We met Payton at the last camp. While we all head home tomorrow, he got an airbnb and is staying 3 months. Spencer is from Oregon and trains at the Forest Grove CTA. He told us all about going to the Origin BJJ camp in Maine which sounds really fun. After dinner we divided up. Endo and Ender went back to the hotel. Nate and myself along with some others stopped by a night market but unfortunately it was closing up when we got there and not much was open.
